The Holiday Balloon Fest is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 2010 and 2011 US National Hot Air Balloon Championships in the Battle Creek area. Due to this, the winter event has been placed on hold. We want to thank you for a decade of continuous support by our sponsors and spectators.
A Letter from the Governor Dear Friends: As governor of the state of Michigan, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2010 U.S. National Hot Air Balloon Championships. We are excited to once again have the nation’s best hot air balloon pilots competing here in the great state of Michigan to crown a national champion. Michigan, and Battle Creek in particular, has a long and proud history of hosting world-class hot air balloon competitions. Battle Creek itself has played host to more than 36 such events including regional competitions, winter competitions, team championships, national championships, and three previous world championships. Adding to this distinction, Battle Creek and the Holiday Balloon Fest, Inc. were chosen in March of this year by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) to host the 2012 World Hot Air Balloon Championship. To all of you who have come to witness the beautiful sights and sounds of the competitive and fiesta balloons, I hope you will take some time to enjoy the event as well as the many shops, restaurants, and attractions that Battle Creek and Calhoun County have to offer.
